Channel 03 · Shortcut ⌘3

LARGE & OLD

Short answer

CleanUai’s channel 03 lists the large files in your home folder, from 100 MB up, and lets you filter by type and by how long it’s been since you opened each one. Sort by size, by last use or by name, check what you don’t need and send it to the Trash. Nothing gets checked without you seeing it.

Filters

  • Type: video, audio, image, archive, disk image (.dmg, .iso), document and other.
  • Age: any, not opened in 3 months, 6 months or 1 year.
  • Order: biggest first, most forgotten first, or by name.
  • Minimum size: 100 MB by default.

Where it looks

In your home folder: Downloads, Desktop, Documents, Movies and the rest. It skips Library and the Trash (other channels handle those), hidden files and apps. Packages like the Photos library or a virtual machine count as one file, so you never take one apart by accident.

Before deleting

Every row has a show-in-Finder button. Old .dmg and .iso installers, screen recordings and .zip backups are usually the big ones. Everything goes to the Trash first.

Step by step

  1. Open channel 03 (⌘3).
  2. Pick a type and an age, for example “Disk image” and “1 year”.
  3. Check each file. Use show in Finder if you’re not sure.
  4. Check them and press Remove. They go to the Trash.

Questions

How does it know when I last opened a file?

CleanUai uses the most recent of the last time the file was opened and the last time it was modified, both kept by macOS.

Does it look for large files on the whole disk?

In your home folder, which is where your files are. System folders and other users’ folders are protected by the guard.

Can I change the minimum size?

The default is 100 MB, which catches what really weighs without flooding the list.
