Channel 05 · Shortcut ⌘5
LEFTOVERS
Short answer
CleanUai’s channel 05 looks in Library for files named after an app that is no longer installed on the Mac, and groups them by app. Since the link is by name, nothing comes checked: you review each group and choose what goes to the Trash.
Where it looks
In your Library (~/Library): Application Support, Caches, Preferences (and ByHost), Containers, Group Containers, Saved Application State, Logs, HTTPStorages, WebKit, Cookies, LaunchAgents and Application Scripts.
Why nothing comes checked
A file like com.adobe.acc.plist says who it belongs to by its name, but that doesn’t prove the app is gone for good: it may belong to an app on another drive, or to a tool that isn’t an app. So CleanUai shows the group, its size and its files, and you decide.
Leftovers versus the uninstaller
The Uninstaller handles apps that are still on the Mac. Leftovers handles what’s left of apps that are already gone, usually dragged to the Trash.
Step by step
- Open channel 05 (
⌘5). - See the groups, one per app that is no longer on the Mac.
- Open a group, check its files and tick what you recognize.
- Press Remove. It goes to the Trash.
Questions
Is it safe to remove app leftovers?
If the app is no longer on the Mac, its files do nothing, unless you plan to reinstall it and want its settings back. That’s why nothing comes checked.
Do leftovers show up in the smart scan too?
They count toward channel 00’s total, so you know how much there is. You choose what goes here.
