Channel 10 · Shortcut ⌥⌘0

MAC TUNE-UP

Short answer

CleanUai’s channel 10 (Tune-up) runs six macOS maintenance tasks with no Terminal. You check the ones you want, macOS asks for your password once per run and the report comes in live, task by task. The commands are fixed, and nothing anyone types ever reaches them.

The six tasks

Flush the DNS cache: when a site has moved and your Mac keeps going to the old address.
Reindex Spotlight: when search can’t find files you know are there.
Rebuild “Open With”: duplicate or missing apps in the Finder’s menu.
Delete local Time Machine snapshots: frees the space macOS holds on to as “purgeable”.
Free up inactive memory: gives back the memory closed apps are still holding.
Verify the disk: only reads it and tells you if it found errors. It doesn’t fix anything on its own.

What asks for a password

Rebuilding “Open With” and verifying the disk run as you. The other four need the administrator and go together in one macOS password prompt. CleanUai never sees the password.

What can’t be undone

Deleting local snapshots doesn’t go through the Trash: they’re gone for good. Your backups on the Time Machine disk aren’t touched. Spotlight rebuilds its index in the background, so search may be incomplete for a while.

Step by step

Open channel 10 (⌥⌘0).
Check the tasks. The screen shows how long each one usually takes.
Press to run and enter your password if a checked task asks for it.
Follow the report. If a task fails, it says why and you can run just that one again.

Questions

Do I need to run a tune-up every week?

No. These are fixes for when something’s wrong, not routine maintenance. That’s why nothing runs on its own.

Does freeing memory make my Mac faster?

It only frees what’s inactive. macOS already manages memory on its own, so this is for when you want room before a heavy app.

What happens if the check finds errors?

CleanUai tells you and suggests First Aid in Disk Utility. It doesn’t fix anything on the disk itself.
