SAFETY

Short answer

Yes. CleanUai has three locks and a guard. Scanning only reads. Cleaning moves everything to the macOS Trash, where you can drag it back out. Deleting for good only happens by holding the button until the LED fills. And a guard refuses to touch system folders, Documents, Keychains, Mail, Messages, the Photos library, iCloud Drive, other users’ folders and CleanUai itself, even if something asks it to.

The three locks

Scanning only reads. A scan looks and measures. No file moves until you press Clean.
Everything goes to the Trash. Every cleanup moves files to the macOS Trash, like the Finder does.
Delete for good? Hold it. The button fills an LED while you hold it. A stray click deletes nothing.

The guard

Before moving any file, every channel runs the path past a guard that says no to:

system folders;
Documents;
Keychains;
Mail and Messages data;
the Photos library;
iCloud Drive;
other users’ folders;
CleanUai itself.

The guard applies to every channel and to the menu bar agent, and it can’t be turned off.

Privacy

CleanUai runs on your Mac, with no account, no telemetry and no analytics. Scan results, the Space Lens map and your app list never leave the Mac. See the privacy policy.

Built from scratch

CleanUai is an independent app, written from scratch in SwiftUI by a developer in Brazil, with no code from any other cleaner.

Questions

Can CleanUai delete system files?

No. System folders are in the guard, and it refuses even if a channel asks.

What if I clean something by mistake?

Drag it back out of the Trash in the Finder. Until you empty the Trash, everything comes back.

Does CleanUai send my data anywhere?

No. It only goes online to activate the license and trial, check for new versions of itself and, in the App Updater, query the App Store, Homebrew and each app’s feed.
