SCHEDULED SCAN
Short answer
CleanUai’s scheduled scan runs on a day you pick, every week or every month, and sends one notification only if what can be cleaned is over the minimum you chose. It’s off by default, only runs with the app open or in the menu bar, and never removes anything: the decision is always yours.
What you can choose
- How often: every week, on the weekday you like, or every month, on a day from 1 to 28.
- When: morning, afternoon or evening. The system picks the moment within that period.
- Minimum to notify: below it, no notification. The default is 1 GB.
When it runs
It only runs with CleanUai open or in the menu bar: it installs no agent on your Mac. That’s why Settings offers to start CleanUai with your Mac. If your Mac was off at the scheduled time, it runs once when it can.
On battery or in Low Power Mode, it waits.
What it doesn’t do
It never removes anything. The notification opens Home with the result, and cleaning stays up to you. Without Full Disk Access the scan finds less, and a card says so.
Step by step
- Open Settings (
⌘,) and go to Scheduled scan. - Turn it on, and pick how often, the day, the period and the minimum to notify.
- If you want it to run without opening the app, start CleanUai with your Mac.
- When the notification comes, click it to see the result on Home.

Does it install a background agent?
No. It only runs with CleanUai open or in the menu bar.
Is it on by default?
No. It’s off, and you turn it on in Settings if you want it.
